Rock & Rolling Thunder - Ramones Live at Six Flags Great Adventure 1980

Ramones played 2 shows at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson New Jersey on June 6th, 1980. Thankfully the first show was recorded by an attendee and found it's way to the internet. Johnny considered this one of his favorite shows.

The show is incomplete but is worthy of inclusion in any collection for its historical significance. I've taken the audio from the show and applied some audio fixes to provide what I hope is an enjoyable audio experience.

You can listen to the original upload HERE and find my edit HERE.

In addition to creating an individual track for each  song I've also included some fun artwork.

Enjoy!

Bruce Springsteen's song "Hungry Heart" was released as a single. Joey Ramone had met Springsteen earlier that year and asked him to write a song for the Ramones. "Hungry Heart" was the result but Springsteen's manager convinced him to keep it for himself. That decision paid off as the song ended up reaching #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and would be his biggest hit until "Dancing in the Dark" was released in 1984.

The Ramones played their first gig of the new year at the 21 North Dance Club in Port Chester, NY. Prior to leaving for the show the band listened to the final mastered version of their End of the Century album in the band's van. According to Marky Ramone as detailed in his book Punk Rock Blitzkrig: My Life as a Ramone Johnny didn't give his opinion until they were in the band's dressing room at the venue. He's quoted as saying, "Not good. Not good."
